If you love sports and wear glasses and think you don’t have vision correction options - think again!

People do get eye injuries which can range from minor corneal abrasions to sight threatening retinal detachments while exercising.  As well as that, being in the glare can be uncomfortable and sometimes dangerous as in the case of cycling if a misjudgement is made.

So, wear the vision correction suited for you and advised by us, while doing what keeps you healthy and happy.

Protective polycarbonate frames and lenses can significantly reduce the impact of high-speed balls and projectiles while tints can keep you from squinting in disabling glare.

Brown, Grey, or yellow tints – how to choose?

Amber and brown tints increase contrast and depth perception. They also help with night conditions.

Grey is neutral tint that allows the eyes to perceive colours in their purest form. It reduces brightness and glare. It’s the best option for driving.

Green tints filter some blue light and reduce glare, while offering high contrast and visual sharpness.

What is your sport, its risk, and your option?

On the field - Getting hit in the eye with a football or cricket ball can be both painful and dangerous.  Protect yourself with clear or grey wrap-around polycarbonate frames and lenses.  Cricket balls can be as fast as 90mph.

Squash - Balls are hazardous due to the high speeds they travel at (90-140mph) as well as being the exact size of the orbit – and so can cause retinal detachments. As well as that, the game is usually played under harsh fluorescent lighting.  Yellow lenses cut the glare of overhead lighting.

Running - Grey lenses reduce brightness and glare

Cycling - Brown lenses are best for increasing contrast and depth perception needed for making quick decisions.

Golf and tennis - Green lenses reduce glare and work best for wide expanses of green grass/blue sky.

Fishing - Polarised lenses are best for eliminating harsh glare in the water.

Swimming - You can get prescription swimming googles so you can see in the water.

Diving – Prescription inserts for diving masks are available.
