About RMO
We opened the doors of Rashmi Mathur Optical in April 2000. Meena Samlal was with me that first day and in time we were joined by Marsha Bhagan in 2003 and Mala Bhudan in 2006 and now we four, make up the corners of RMO. In 2014, something happened in the Pt. Lisas air so Meena, Mala and Marsha all got pregnant one after the other which means we have three 6-year olds in the RMO family.
Meena, Marsha and Mala are all qualified Dispensing Opticians having obtained their diplomas from the National Academy of Opticianry in the US in the early years of the practice. We are all committed to Continuing Education and attend seminars and courses to keep up with our professional bodies here in Trinidad, in the U.S. and the U.K.
We share the view that service to others, respectful interactions, keeping the joy in what we do, makes work not seem like work.
This year 2020 so significant in optical terms as the number that signifies the perfect achievement of sharp vision is also the year, we turn 20 years old. It’s a time for reflection of where we started and where we have come to. Eye examinations have evolved from the early days of reading a letter chart and choosing frames to all the benefits that new technology and skills allow us from early detection of pathology, to being able to do OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) scans, fit people with contact lenses to correct colour blindness (deficiencies), fitting irregular corneas with scleral contact lenses (for those who have keratoconus or who have had corneal grafts), to supplying the Pt. Lisas companies with safety eyewear.
